Uchenna Okereke, MD, MSCI is a board-certified dermatologist at The Dermatology Specialists in Brooklyn, NY. She provides treatment to a wide range of dermatologic ailments, including but not limited to acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and skin cancer. She has a special interest in hair loss, discoloration, skin of color, and cosmetics. Dr. Okereke believes in using medical treatments in combination with state of the art technology to treat her patients and to ensure not only positive results, but also positive experiences under her care.
Dr. Okereke received her dual BS/BA undergraduate degrees from The George Washington University. After working in the pharmaceutical industry for 3 years Dr. Okereke left to pursue her dream of becoming a physician, graduating with Honors from Meharry Medical College. After graduating she completed one year of internal medicine at New York Presbyterian-Queens and completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) degree and dermatopharmacology fellowship at New York University, where she served as sub-investigator for clinical trials on treatments for psoriasis, eczema, and PRP injections for hair loss. She then completed a residency in dermatology at the University of Iowa, training under thought leaders in the field and where she treated many patients with various dermatologic conditions. Amidst all of her many endeavors Dr. Okereke makes time to give back, and has spent time working on a Native American Reservation serving the Siletz tribe on the Oregon Coast.
Dr. Okereke is a member of several medical societies, including the American Board of Dermatology, Women’s Dermatologic Society, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the National Medical Association. An avid researcher and a recipient of the Women’s Dermatologic Society Mentorship Award and the North American Hair Research Society Mentorship Award, Dr. Okereke has distinguished herself as a valuable asset in the field of dermatology.
In her spare time, Dr. Okereke enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and mentoring young women to pursue their dreams.
