The short answer is that it can. No matter what modality we use to remove discoloration or freckling to the face, whether it’s a chemical peel or a laser, there’s always the possibility of skin re-pigmentation after exposure to the sun. Whether patients expect to be out in the sun or not, it is imperative for them to use sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher. This will prevent the patient from having to repeat a chemical peel treatment.
