Usama Syed, MD

Dr. Usama Syed is a dermatologist in New York City. He completed his medical training at Imperial College London in the UK, where he was awarded the Student Award for Outstanding Achievement and graduated with Honors, before moving to the US to pursue specialty training in dermatology. He carried out residency training at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York under the tutelage of world leaders in complex dermatological conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and severe acne. This training has given him a detailed understanding of the full range of dermatologic treatments available for persistent skin disease, including brand new injectable ‘biologic’ therapies.

Dr. Syed also has a key interest in cosmetic dermatology, having authored book chapters on the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for hair loss, and also the safe use of injectable fillers for facial rejuvenation. Alongside his interest in medical/cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Usama Syed has been an active participant in the healthtech field. He was awarded a scholarship by the ‘Advancing Innovation in Dermatology’ fund, has produced a dermatology education app to teach medical students/doctors skincare diagnostics, and also has an active presence across social media platforms where he produces informational content on skincare/ skin disease. You can find his YouTube/ Instagram pages by searching for @usamasyed.

When he’s not working or producing social media content, he is an obsessive “football” fan (he refuses to call it soccer even though he now lives in the U.S.) and unwinds by playing games on his PlayStation when his wife allows it.
