The CO2 laser is a fractionated, ablative laser that is very successful for acne scar alteration. The CO2 laser most commonly treats rolling or ice pick acne scars. These types of scarring are ordinarily found on the cheek. They can be treated for one, or sometimes two, sessions with the CO2 laser.
The laser resurfaces and encourages fresher, younger strands of collagen. This new collagen is then deposited in places where scars have formed.
