Jia Gao Rossert, MD is a board-certified dermatologist caring for patients across Long Island, where she also serves as Regional Medical Director. As a native New Yorker who grew up in Queens and now lives on Long Island, she is dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized care for her community.
Dr. Gao studied at Cornell University and earned her medical degree from New York Medical College. She completed her internal medicine internship at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. She then completed her dermatology residency at New York Medical College’s NYC Health + Hospitals / Metropolitan Hospital Center, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.
Known for listening carefully and explaining clearly, Dr. Gao takes a patient-centered approach, building individualized plans around each patient’s goals, skin type, and stage of life. Her path to medicine began in women’s health, during several years in a New York City Ob/Gyn practice. That early experience continues to shape her interest in skin health through midlife and menopause, alongside the full range of medical and cosmetic dermatology. Training in high-volume New York City hospitals gave Dr. Gao extensive hands-on procedural experience from skin cancer excisions to laser and cosmetic treatments. She has published widely and presented at national meetings and conferences. Dr. Gao welcomes patients of all ages, performing skin checks and treating acne, eczema, psoriasis, hair loss, skin cancers, pigmentary concerns, and more.
