How Does Blue Light Therapy work?

Blue light treats acne by destroying Propionibacterium Acnes, the bacteria that causes acne. This bacteria invades the hair follicles on the back, chest and face. It causes inflammation of the pores that result in pimples and blocked pores. Blue light therapy works by using a strong band of light to penetrate the top layers of the skin to destroy the bacteria before it causes more acne.

Is Blue Light Therapy for Acne Safe?

Blue light treatment is a safe and effective way to fight acne. The LED light that Dr. Bobby Buka uses doesn’t contain any ultraviolet light that may damage the skin or contribute to cancer. It is considered safe for people with all types of skin. Patients can resume their normal activities without any downtime as soon as they have finished treatment.

How Many Blue Light Treatments Are Necessary to Clear Acne?

The majority of patients who are treated with blue light therapy to get rid of their acne complete a series of between four and eight sessions, depending on how well they respond to the treatment. Most patients see results after their first or second blue light therapy treatment.
