What is the real importance of wearing sunscreen every day? I’m not outside that much.

Author: Dr. Bobby Buka

This is a great question, because there’s a huge myth among my patients that sunscreen is only required when you’re out at the beach or you’re going to the waterpark. Surprisingly, on cloudy days even here in New York City, there’s still a tremendous amount of ultraviolet light that makes it through the cloud cover and contains ultraviolet A and B that results in skin aging and carcinogenesis or cancer accelerating properties.

Sunscreen every day is critically important to block some of these rays, even if you’re just walking a few blocks from the train to your job. Of course, your vigilance should be much higher when you’re in direct sunlight like at the beach, but please pay attention to this even on overcast days.
