Is biting your nails really bad for your health?

Biting your nails is not deleterious to one’s health, but there are several undesirable outcomes in doing so. When biting your nails, your cuticles can become infected, which can lead to local cellulitis that requires both topical and oral antibiotics. If you create enough trauma to the nail bed, you can get subsequent dystrophic nails. Dystrophic nails is when the nails grow out permanently misshaped. So, if you bite your nails, be aware that this can cause bigger issues further down the road.
