Do you know any natural remedies for eczema?

Author: Dr. Bobby Buka

There are a ton of holistic medications for use in eczema. The ones that I’ve most commonly heard that are effective are oolong tea. Patients will steep a bag of oolong tea in water for 10-20 minutes and then apply it to the skin, at which point they will cover the skin with a layer of moisturizer. The antioxidants ability of oolong tea can be very helpful in calming some of the inflammation associated with this condition.

Also, I’ve heard of tea tree oil, used commonly in patients who have eczema. This is not only for its antioxidant properties, but also for its antimicrobial properties. A lot of what can drive eczema is recurrent infection or colonization with bacteria. Tea tree oil can be very effective in dropping bacterial and fungal spore rates on the surface of the skin and, therefore, decrease a lot of the potential for eczema flares.

There are 10 to 20 other commonly-used natural remedies for eczema. I think Andrew Weil is probably the foremost authority, and also a woman named Julie Bauman. If you’d like to Google them, they offer eczema remedies that are in the Holistic World almost weekly. So, those are the two most common that I know of. That might be helpful apart from Western medicine.
