What Causes Rosacea to Appear and Flare Up?
It is the general consensus that a spicy foods, alcohol, and caffeine can cause rosacea flare-ups. There is no definitive answer to its cause, but with medications and even laser treatments, rosacea can be managed.

Are There Any Other Specific Treatments Available?
Yes. Medications like Oracea, Metrogel, Finacea, Mirvaso and Sumaxin wash effectively combat rosacea. In addition, in-office treatments like pulse-dye laser treatments and mandelic acid peels are very effective in relieving the redness and managing the broken blood vessels that highlight this condition. It’s best to get together with your dermatologist for an assessment to determine the best treatment options for you.

How Can I Best Care for My Skin Condition in the Meantime?
Sufferers of rosacea require ongoing skin care management. At home, avoid harsh scrubs, cleansers and products that can abrade your skin. Treat your skin gently with a moisturizer that features a minimum of SPF 30 and a mild, non-abrasive cleanser daily. Your skin is extremely sensitive, so avoid products that feature fragrances and dyes and any facial product that has benzoyl peroxide or witch hazel.
