What is the main cause of skin cancer – the utmost common type of cancer?

Author: Dr. Bobby Buka

Skin cancer is the most common type of all cancers and basal cell carcinoma is the most common among these. Ultraviolet light exposure is usually the cause of the development of skin cancer. Skin cancer development is largely dictated by the amount of exposure you’ve received between the ages of zero and 18.

The amount of time you’re in sun after the age of 18 can determine when in adulthood you first experience a skin cancer. The most common skin cancers are basal cell cancer and squamous cell cancer, but the more deadly ones include melanoma. Symptoms can range from a non-healing area to pain or itching in an area or a sore that’s not healing.
