Karen Akuffo, PA-C

Karen Akuffo is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2021, followed by a Master of Public Health from the same institution in 2022. Prior to attending Physician Assistant school, Karen worked as a dermatology medical assistant, where she gained hands-on experience in patient assessments, skincare treatments, and assisting with minor dermatologic procedures.
In 2024, Karen graduated with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Westfield State University. She values dermatology for its unique blend of medicine, aesthetics, and preventative care to create meaningful change in patients’ lives. As a woman of color, she is particularly committed to addressing disparities in dermatologic care, ensuring that patients of all skin tones receive accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.
Karen is a proud member of both the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). She is also fluent in Twi, due to her Ghanaian heritage. She is excited to join The Dermatology Specialists team, where she is dedicated to making every patient feel seen, heard, and well cared for. She looks forward to building lasting relationships with her patients and helping them achieve their goals.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her family, baking, and traveling with friends.
