Dr. Umar Sheikh is a dermatologist serving the New York City area. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Saint Louis University. He subsequently completed a clinical research fellowship with specialty training in pediatric dermatology, eczema, and clinical trials from Saint Louis University. Dr. Sheikh completed both his internal medicine internship and his dermatology residency at the University of Chicago, where he was selected as a chief resident. During his training, Dr. Sheikh was awarded scholarships through the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. He was a recipient of the Rising Derm Stars Award, a Global Health Distinction, and a scholarship for a global dermatology rotation in Cambodia.
Dr. Sheikh is part of several dermatology societies and has published widely in several leading national and international dermatological journals. His clinical interests include both rare and common skin conditions in diverse populations including eczema, contact dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, hair loss, and many more. Dr. Sheikh also maintains a keen interest in cosmetic dermatology with the ultimate goal of making his patients feel more confident in their own skin. Outside the clinic, Dr. Sheikh enjoys traveling, exploring New York City’s neighborhoods, coffee shops, music, and catching up with friends and family.
